TEXTILE WORLDS

The New Collection takes a look at 180 textiles spanning some 200 years, most of which come from the museum's rich holdings. On the one hand, the exhibition reflects the diverse uses, designs, and developments in textiles, and on the other hand, it documents the history of the museum's textile collection and its collection focus. These include works from the Arts and Crafts movement, the Münchner Bund, or the Bauhaus and Modernism, to Molas from Panama, Moroccan carpets, war carpets from Afghanistan, and European textiles from the 1950s to the present, as well as textiles characterized by functionalism, anti-design, or stylistic pluralism, and particular visionary positions.
