Goals

The history of PIN. relates a story of great works of art, the willingness to take risks, personal commitment, and a passion for the present. PIN.’s goals have always been to explore the contemporary and to make it accessible to a wide audience. Founded in 1965 under the name Galerie Verein, PIN. meanwhile supports two of Europe’s leading art institutions in realizing ambitious exhibitions, educational projects, and collection acquisitions: the Pinakothek der Moderne, which houses four museums under one roof and thus enables an unparalleled and visionary interplay of architecture, design, graphics and modern art; and the Museum Brandhorst in its groundbreaking permanent collection of 20th and 21st-century art. PIN.’s mission is to assist these closely interlinked institutions in achieving the highest level of recognition and vibrancy and to position their collections in consistently new relationships.

PIN. offers its approximately 900 members around 70 annual events such as guided tours, previews, studio visits, conversations with artists, lectures, and trips. The PIN. Young Circle provides art enthusiasts under 40 with their own specific program. PIN. additionally hosts the PIN. Party which organizes a charity auction each November for the benefit of the Pinakothek der Moderne and the Museum Brandhorst.
